working on my friends 2008 Tracker 21 Fishin barge, has holes in both logs from corrosion. Taking it off the trailer was very easy, with the use of a large bumper jack. tongue down on the ground, then stands under the stern, then jack it up and the stern lifts off. 4 x 6 x 12' timber under the nose cones, then let it down, and drive the trailer out from under it.

Congratulations on your pioneering spirit and figuring out how to get the pontoon on the ground.

It's a rare occurence to see such corrosion. Was there some stray electricity in the water where the boat was stored? It often happens around marinas and boathouses with lifts.

Are you going to fix it? Would TIG welding work, or are the holes too large? I know a place stocking matching pairs of toons if the boat needs them.

Exactly what happened, the rear lift strap had broken and the people left it with the stern hanging in the water, assume there were some type of fasteners attaching the fabric straps, and they were laying against the tubes. Stripping it down, sanding, clean out the corroded areas then fill and fare with marine tex, then a 2 part etching primer, and finish with a 2 part epoxy barrier coat. I have done this once before and the repair lasted long after I sold the boat.
