Flooding my season away

#1 Post by OCBray » Wed Jun 07, 2017 12:28 pm

Table rock lake reached one of its highest levels in early April and has stayed well over normal pool since. Since the flood they have dropped the lake level 5' in 2 months. The issue is we have not had access to the dock by land. Even if you get a ride out to the dock. There is no guarantee you won't have to swim to the parking lot when you get back. Power is the other issue. It has been intermittent at best. If you drop the lift, you may not get it back up. I figure it will take an additional 5' to 7' and a logging crew for us to ever step foot back on the dock. I've never seen so much timber piled up in a marina. Maybe a logging mill but never a marina.

I can't believe they have not dropped the level far enough for people to gain access to docks. At the rate they are releasing water I can't see the level being low enough by the 4th of July.

This is turning out to be one of our cheapest boating seasons yet. I still have almost a full tank of treated fuel from the winter. My boat cooler is drying out.

Back to the home honey do list which is the real PITA Cheers!

i read online that they are going to start flowing Truman this weekend. Lake of the Ozarks is at 659, 660 is full pool. Ameren won't let it get above the 660. I guess that is the difference between a Corp lake and one managed by a power company.

After checking the historical data online. It looks like this happens frequently. I may just be at the wrong marina.

Probably responding slow in order to skew the "average lake levels" data to fuel the climate change debate.

Anthropomorphic data, anyone?

We down here in North East Texas, Lake O Pines, Its a corps lake, strictly for flood control. (according to corp) they do not care if we can boat or fish, Its been up 12 ft high, our pier was under water 10 ft only little top of poles were sticking out. It tore our pier all up. Its back down now, pier is just 8 inches above water line. It should be down to 2 ft below pier.

Geez....I think the reservoir I generally go to is up over 200' from last summer...."New Melones"....It has about another 10' to go before it fills completely...everybody here is happy as the proverbial puppy...

The lake is still above summer pool but it's a lot better and usable. Dock repair companies are making a fortune. The gangway to our dock has buckled and completely ripped a 3/8" steel plate conecting the two sections together. The two straight sections are now at a 45 hanging on by a piece of cable.

They are calling it a 100 year flood. Last time it happened was 2015. New math I guess. Same thing happened here in the Lou in 1993 and 1995. The Mississippi and Missouri rivers cut new paths after record flooding.

LOTO does flood but they will flood everyone out of Truman before they ruin all the homes on LOTO from what i understand.

Got out that way in June, LOTO water was great, one leg was still full of debris and dead fish from the "flood" rest of the lake was pretty nice. I guess LOTO was at 3 feet above full pool for a while. Weather was perfect and we literally saw not one mosquito. Was there for five days, granted they were weekdays but the lake was pretty slow. not many boats running at all...
An over forty victim of fate....
