Hey guys... been a member of this forum for a few years and have found it very useful and entertaining. If you're on Facebook, there's a group called "pontoon boat owners group" which has over 13k and is very active with pictures and advice needed. Can't get enough pontoon talk and pictures myself, so wanted to pass along

I find it all but universal that today the term "Ignorance is Bulletproof" is an absolute truth when it comes to those who know it all on the likes of Facebook...

I just sent a join request to that FB page.
There is a ton of know it alls on the internet. FB and forums alike. So I filter everything as best I can. But I like learning so I don't mind multiple sources.
Plus activity is nice. I like this forum a lot but with its issues and lack of activity I fear it will go away eventually. I sure don't want that to happen.

What's "Facebook?"
"There is no reason for anyone with any chops online to be remotely involved with Facebook, except to peruse it for lost relatives. So, next time you log on, remember it's really AOL with a different layout."
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2375715,00.asp
And quite possibly loaded with liberals...
http://www.westernjournalism.com/one-si ... tist-bias/
http://www.slate.com/articles/technolog ... tions.html
"As Gizmodo points out, that’s noteworthy because Facebook helped to birth and fuel the Black Lives Matter movement. At least one fellow ex-curator agreed that human biases came into play in the story selection process..."
"With some 1.6 billion active users, Facebook is far bigger than any political party or movement, and its ubiquity is its greatest strength as a platform. An exodus by conservatives would put that ubiquity in jeopardy. In order to reach as many users as possible, Facebook needs to be as uncontroversial as possible. That’s why it wants to preserve the notion that it’s somehow “neutral.” "
"Facebook seems to want us to believe that the values of the people who run and work for Facebook have no role in shaping the product that we all use. That seems naïve at best."
(Oops, this might be off topic..)

Totally agree FB and other social media is very left wing biased.... I'm one that reads a lot on what I like and ignores the rest.
The other thing I can't stand is the dirty laundry crap they do on there. It has become all about who is doing who wrong (a few people I went to school with and some family inlaws do this constantly.) But I am very familiar with the unfollow feature. LOL

I've gotten sucked in there, The people who don't know anything aren't the problem, It's the horrible advice that people give them. I have to stop, It's not worth arguing with morons.

Ron you are so totally right... I can't tell you how many times I get sucked into trying to refute an easily checked fact with people who absolutely refuse to listen or fact check the bull shit they babble...

Yeah I tend to just ignore the arguing... I read and learn and don't take all advice as truth I guess.
I do that with whatever. There are plenty of keyboard heroes out there living in mom's basement that find it fun to make crap up and or act like they know everything. My filter for those people is pretty efficient anymore.

I have never been on Facebook. While I understand ignorance is not a good trait, it is blissful not seeing that someone just "liked" a hamburger or "shared" some BS article that has nothing to do with me, or bragging about some vacation they went on yet could not afford.

The flat out worst thing I see on facebook is the pity party people and the dirty laundry people (usually the same people)
I get so aggravated when I see than and usually click the little ignore button.

I don't do Farcebook.
The unmitigated bullshit I've heard about with all the drama, trauma, chaos, crap and crud that goes on with Farcebook really makes me glad of that decision.
I also don't tweet on twitter so I can't be a "Twit".
And when I'm in a restaurant with family or friends, my iPhone is on vibrate or is off.
And when I'm at the lake on the toon, It's off and in a plastic bag.
It's only there for an emergency.
Needing another beer isn't one of them.

Hey Guys,
I hear what you're saying and I agree with some of the BS that goes along with Facebook. This wasn't a plug for Facebook, rather just sharing that this page exists on FB that has likeminded individuals (maybe not as smart as you) that share the same passions with Pontoons as we do. Lots of pictures of different boats, lakes, adventures and tons of activity. Thought some of you would enjoy... that was the only intent.
Cheers and happy tooning!

I agree, It's really a good page overall with people looking for advice or to give it. Very few dinks all in all.
