Kayak Pontoon
While I know it isn't what you'd call a traditional pontoon. Effectively this was my first pontoon. This is a setup I cam up with for my dad and I to fish some remote lakes in Canada. It was an 8.5 mile paddle to the portage and we had limited time there. It is a 14 hour drive to the lake so this was our way of maximizing our time where we wanted to camp/fish. The 2.5 works perfect. The few people that saw us always looked at us funny or smiled and complemented us. Really is a cool setup for what we did with it.
I saw a picture in the rebuild section so I thought I would add it here as there is more traffic. And to see what you guys thought of my crazy Kayak Pontoon. LOL

Re: Kayak Pontoon
Believe it or not, I've been toying with that idea for a long time....I still may put something similar together after I finish sticking my extra cash in my pontoon build. Something like what you have would be great for running shallow rivers carrying extra gear, dogs, etc.

It works really good actually. Sit on Tops would be better I think. But these worked out nicely. Some rougher water we got splashed a good put and took on some water but I bought half skirts for helping with that. SOT you'd get wet but not have to worry about taking on to much water.

You know I don't remember. I think about 3.5 or so. We tried with a trolling motor but with no way to recharge the batteries it didn't work out.

Re: Kayak Pontoon
I saw one a few weeks ago using 2 canoes. It was a sweet setup. They used it for drifting for Small Mouth on Illinois river

Came across these guys about 5 years ago on a 150 mile river trip. They started with paddles only and halfway through their trip they stopped and bought the lumber and motor to finish.

Re: Kayak Pontoon
Haha yeah mine went through the 2x4 strapped together with a trolling motor stage. Call it Rev 1. It was a success but only partially.
