CHANGE PANEL COLOR ?
I am trying to inexpensively change the color [and therefore improve the looks] of my pontoon. We have a 2007 Sedona L21 pontoon that has off white panels with yellow and gray decal graphics. We own a vinyl cutter that we use in our t shirt business and have lots of vinyl in 36" rolls. My idea is to remove the graphics on the boat now, and cut vinyl to precisely fit the panels. Has anyone ever tried this idea vs painting ?

Re: CHANGE PANEL COLOR ?
The vinyl you speak of...is it like a wrap? How would it stick to the boat and can it be easily removed?
Can't comment on the type of vinyl you are using but if I were ever to consider a paint job I think I would look into a 3m wrap job first (mine would be simple...nothing crazy).
Here is a thread from 5 years ago:

And here is a recent thread where a guy wrapped his toons:

I have no clue what a professional paint job would cost but based on the above, I would assume a good 3m wrap would be less than $2,000.

Thanks BobL
There is roll vinyl that is designed for outdoor sign usage. I was thinking about changing the color of my panels to a simple solid color blue. We are going to try applying the vinyl to just one panel this coming week to see how hard it is to do, and to see how it will hold up during usage.

Re: CHANGE PANEL COLOR ?
I would think if you are skilled enough to apply it it should work. I've seen plenty of wrapped cars that look amazing. Being outdoor type it should last. I'm not sure I could do it myself. I did an aeromask (like a clear front in protector) on my dad's corvette years ago. with all the curves that was a pain. But with flat surfaces I am thinking it should be much better.

Re: CHANGE PANEL COLOR ?
I assume you are referring to something like Oracle 851 or similar? That should work OK, assuming your panels are nice and flat. Our last pontoon had bad graphics but the panels were dented/dinged/scratched up so I wouldn't have tried to put vinyl over it entirely.

Last time I changed colors, I just used fans of spray paint. 20 years later the paint looks great. I never got around to adding vinylmstripew.
