As long as it is all clean etc i think you can spray it as is. I am not sure but Plastidip stuff should have directions on it how to prep it.

No primer is needed. Just sand it smooth and wipe it down with rubbing alcohol to remove any wax or grease. That's all it takes!

Thanks you've all been a big help. I'll post up before and after pics when I get the plasti dip in and get the job done. Cool think about plasti dip is, if it gives up the ghost after several years, just peel it off and spray on some new plasti dip.
But by that time, I may be selling the boat anyway and moving on to a newer one. So hopefully this ends up being a permanent fix. If it holds up like it does on cars, it should be fine for the duration that I own the boat.

Just so I'm understanding this.... you peel off the existing vinyl or whatever and spray it with plastids? My current console looks pretty bad. It's wood covered with vinyl and some padding. I'm thinking about building a new console, but would love to make the current one look a little,less trashed.
