23" 2014 Xcursion XS tube. 150 four stroke. NO SPEED

#1 Post by Jdglad » Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:00 am

Hey y'all. Newbie here. Have a 23" 2014 Xcursion RF Tritoon XS tube (3/4 center tube) with a Mercury 150L four stroke. At WOT about 5800 rpm am only seeing about 24-25 mph on in dash mounted GPS with trim.. Motor is mounted at next to top hole. Not sure of pitch on prop (original) have put all 80hrs on motor myself. Any ideas? Prop? Operator?

Thanks

The rpm's are okay. Does the prop hookup? Any ventilation in tight turns? Do you have lifting strikes on the toons? Does it have a stainless prop? How about brand? Look on big for the pitch--14 or 15/is normal for your boat.

When you're making speed runs, are you running light on passengers and fuel? And are you trimming the motor way up to get the nosecones out of the water?

Thanks Bama,

Prop hooks up fine. Turns are strong even when pulling tubes. Strikes on the outer tubes. It does have stainless prop not sure of brand. Seems like it started with a "V". Took her out Friday with my son and 1/4 tank could only get 24 with trimming/ nose out of water. Could the GPS be wrong?

Get a 15 pitch Enertia prop and you will be at 37-39 mph and 5300-5400 rpm.
