We have our 22.5 foot fishing cruiser on order. The only option for a trolling motor was a 12v 55 lb thrust, so I decided to add my own 80 lb thrust after the boat arrives. My question is where are you guys placing your two batteries for the 24 volt motors. I may have room in the rear by the starter battery, but that would be more weight on the rear, and I understand the shorter wire travel the better.
Since I only have the two fishing seats up front, I'm thinking a front position for the batteries will be better. The manufacturerer uses one of the fishing consoles for the 12v battery concealment if their trolling mother is ordered. But I'm sure there isn't enough room in there for two.

I have a 24v 70# thrust and the batts are under out of the way in the dog house that the wind shield and dash gauges and steering wheel is on.

I hadn't thought of that. As long as it doesn't interfere with leg room from the captains chair that sounds like a good idea! Thanks!

We have an 80lbs thrust Terrova (24v) as well. The batteries and 2 bank charger are also in the under helm storage. Plug for the charger is flush mounted through the fence for easy charging. The batteries help balance the boat when the port side couch is full of people.
Make sure you buy the correct shaft length to ensure your motor can reach the water.

Jediger, thanks for the tips. Balancing out that weight would be an advantage. How did you run your wire from the batteries to the plug? Over the floor or were you able to go through the floor and join the wire holes underneath along the sides?
