Stern Anchoring?
Curious question about anchoring. I was fishing the other day on a wind blown shoreline and found a great spot with a lot of fish. I fought it with the trolling motor, and it worked ok.
It would have been easier to anchor but my boat doesn't have room to fish off the back. Would it have been ok to drop anchor and tie off to a rear cleat to fish the shoreline from the bow of the boat?

Absolutely. If you're fishing in a larger lake with larger waves then it may be a problem.

Re: Stern Anchoring?
I live in Kansas.
Wind is a given.
I have two anchors.
One bow and one stern.
Limits movement, even on windy days.
I didn't know cleats were for anything else but tying off mooring lines and anchor lines, so yeah, it's ok.

Re: Stern Anchoring?
Just to make sure we're all on the same page here, I'm asking whether it's safe to anchor from the stern. Not necessarily asking if I can tie an anchor line to the cleats. I appreciate the feedback, but it seemed like my initial question was confusing.

Sure is! You'll be fine, I've done it many, many times on all of my boats.

Re: Stern Anchoring?
you can't anchor off the stern with a V hull as taking a wave over the stern could sink you but on a pontoon you can with no issues
