Removing carpeting at seat base? Switching to vinyl flooring

I have a question regarding the carpeting that is around the seat bases on my pontoon. It is a 2006 Premier. My seats are vinyl, however the bottom base of the seats are covered in carpet. It is in the area where the under seat lighting is.

I am assuming that there is seat vinyl behind the carpet? They must just glue the carpet to the vinyl? I am thinking about taking the carpet out of my boat and putting in vinyl flooring. If I do so, I would want to the remove the carpeting around the seat bases and just have the vinyl seat material there.

Has anybody pulled the carpeting off around their seat bases? Any advise on the process to switch from carpet to vinyl flooring? Thanks for your input!

We don't have a Premier but our carpet is glued to the marine plywood decking. To replace the carpet, everything has to be removed. Helm, seats, changing station, everything.
