New Boat Pics

#1 Post by Steve7 » Tue Nov 14, 2017 5:03 pm

So here are a few pics of our new G3 Tritoon. Overall happy, but haven’t had it out yet. Sorry if the pics are large. Can’t seem to figure out how to resize them.

Great looking boat!

Quick tip from someone who has had multiple black boats (and my current is Excursion has your same color combo). Keep a good wax on it, wipe it down after use, and each time before you put another wax on it, spray with a vinegar and water solution to eat the water spots off. The vinegar/water will strip some of the wax which is why I don't use it each time I was the boat down.

Thanks Bob for the tip. Is the vinegar okay to use on the decals? I know that petroleum products in most waxes aren’t good. I use 303 Protectant on our RV decals, and wax on the rest.

Steve...

I have not had issues with vinegar/water on decals but your mileage may vary. You can always not spray around the decals and just use a cloth to wipe around them. By the way, for heavy water stains, I use a 50/50 mix but usually wax after that. For quick wipe downs between waxes (if you have some water stains), I use a 20/80 or 30/70 mix (with the lower number being vinegar and the higher number being water).

I had an all black MasterCraft Wake boat and was amazed at how it cut through the water stains. I live in the south and we have to deal with water stains all the time.

Of course keeping a good wax on it and wiping down after use would be the best, but sometimes that does not work out.

That's really nice! Congrats on your new boat! Is that a Yamaha Performance Series 4 bladed prop? I'm impressed they put that on---Super! You are gonna love that prop if she is pitched right.
I also noticed your bow is strapped down to the trailer----smart guy! That gives you a better ride when towing and will reduce the number of winch straps you go through! Perfect!!!

I’m still going through everything since I only picked it up a few days ago. I don’t know too much about props, but the dealer asked which altitude I’d be using it at. I’ll be at 2,500-3,500 feet most of the time, so they ordered a corresponding prop. The box says PowerTech...141/4x14 and then 9-13.
I’m hoping to at least get the boat out this weekend before weather gets too bad.

Steve, if you don't mind.

I'm looking at a 150hp.

What were your thought on the Yahama vs Mercury? if you considered it.

Thanks,

This brand of boat, the G3, is a Yamaha company. So I had no choice as to what brand of motor I would receive. But everything I’ve read indicates that Yamaha motors are a very good product. I’ve only had it out once so far, but it purrs like a kitten and has some get up and go. I think we’re gonna be really pleased with it. I haven’t looked into the Mercury...sorry.
