Hey guys I am looking to add a tilt/trim setup onto the boat for this season. I have a 96’ sweetwater 20 foot with a 1978 Mercury 700 outboard on it. I know the boat has an aluminum transom on it and I’m wondering if I can add tilt/trim to it? If I can add this feature how do I know if a setup would work for me? Any help is appreciated thanks guys
Ryan

I had a CMC tilt and trim unit on my old toon. Think it cost me about $600. Took a couple of hours to install, pretty straightforward. Just Google CMC tilt and trim.

If you are not in a hurry and looking for something cheap. Several years ago, ARROW MACHINE INC. Hutchinson, Kansas made a DOLE FLUID POWER Model S-P500 that utilized a lever to tilt the engine up with both forward and reverse strokes then to lower the engine you just turn the pressure relief screw.
I have seen them on ebay once in a while for $50 - $100 including the cylinders, transom mount, hose and pump.

You could add trim but the cost may be too much to invest in such an old motor.
If you are looking for performance gains, tilt does little to improve speeds on a two toon boat without lifting strakes. I always ran my engine parallel with the bottom on my old boat--even though I had tilt and trim.
