Ladder for front of toon
I'm looking to add a swimming ladder to the front of our toon. Any suggestions or links on what to get? I see Gander Mountain has a rope ladder, but our kids are 4 & 6, so I don't think that'll work. Boatersworld.com has a metal ladder that goes under the deck for $200.

Re: Ladder for front of toon
The Crone brand shown in both links are great ladders. We have one on front of our Regency. The only problem is we have 26" logs and when in down position it only has 1 or 2 rungs under water. We had one our last toon and it was perfect for it.

Yep probably would be better if they added another rung for the toons with larger logs, still would rather have that or a side ladder. The rear entry ones would just be something else to think about when cranking the motor if you had a lot of people on board especially children.

Re: Ladder for front of toon
Kaptap,
I've had that same slide-out drop-down ladder on two different 'toons and I'm really sold on it. It goes down nice and deep for folks that really need that extra rung. It's like most things, you get what you pay for. Two hundred may seem like a lot for a ladder, but after you've tried a couple of cheaper solutions, you're probably just a few bucks away from what the slide-out drop-down would have cost.
One word of caution, make sure it's up before you're underway. We have an unspoken rule on our 'toon, two people are encouraged to confirm the ladder is stowed; the driver and anyone else!

Re: Ladder for front of toon
Hey there,
I've tried several ladders on friend's boats and such and I allways come back to this one. They call them "Dock Ladders and they come in three, four and five step versions. Also in steel and aluminum. I opt for the steel because I hang around with some "SCH 80" folks and it's a lot more sturdy than the aluminum version. It's a bit cumbersome at times, but I want a ladder that's handy in the water, not on my deck. This past spring, I built a mount to carry it (I have a hard top) on my top. Now it's completely out of the way. If interested, I'll get a couple pictures next time I head down to the lake.
Good luck on your search,
Clint

Re: Ladder for front of toon
I had one of those Clint, it was always in my way on the deck and then went things got tough someone stole it off my pontoon, so I going to have to buy another ladder now.

Has anyone come up with a good way to store these types of ladders (dock ladders)
I dont have a hard top.
these look like they would work good.

Re: Ladder for front of toon
Years ago a friend had one like Clint's and he made a bracket that mounted to side rail so it was out of way until needed.. I wish I could remember what he did because it didn't rattle at all.

A good ladder is worth every penny. If you buy cheap you will buy again in one or two years.
Lots of body types, ages and weights of your passengers that you want to be able to get out of the water.
