Opened the can of worms

Once you do a spot, game on LOL. I did the whole shark hide process about 2 yrs ago after buying, acid washed, polished by hand and shar hide. It’s lasted very well, I just wanted more shine, so yesterday I experimented with a polisher I got at HF. Of course once one area was done, I had to keep on, port side is finished, starboard side will get a few after work sessions this week. It’s not perfect, but 10 times better than before and I’m not devoting my weekends to this, too pretty down here this time of year.

Looks really good. I plan to polish mine up when I pull it out of the water in the next week or so to do the yearly oil change.

Looks great. Are you using the high speed polisher or the dual action polisher?

How long do you anticipate spending on the polishing?

I'm using PRESTA Super Cut http://www.prestaproducts.com/Super_Cut ... tails.aspx and a 3" foam applicator on an air polisher from HF. Applying the compound with the polisher (24 inches at a time), wiping it off by hand, then using the 7" twisted wool pad on the buffer to shine, repeat area as needed to get the shine. As far as time; I am going over my previous Shark hide application, and I wet sanded some with 800, in retrospect, I should have wiped everything down with lacquer thinner to remove the shark hide, acid washed and then went to polishing. I did acid wash, but believe it or not, it did not get through the shark hide so it did not give that foamy white mill finish that you get when applying the acid wash. Probably three days of work, 4-6 hrs a day.. once I got the system down it started moving along pretty good.
