I just switched my TV provider so I've been exposed to some newer infomercials. There's one that's a squeeze tube of paste adhesive that makes an instant bond, even underwater.

My toon doesn't have brackets on the ends so last year I bought a transducer mounting base that comes with a slow-cure epoxy (my assumption) to glue it to the end of the toon. It looks too runny in the clear tube to fill the gap between my curved ends & the flat mount. The infomercial Flex Glue stuff looks ideal since it's thick, bonds instantly, and permanently... so they say.

Anyone ever try it?

Interesting, got a link? 3M 5200 works great...except it takes about a week to cure (out of water) and it is permanent

Google "Flex Glue" to find reviews (good & bad), videos, commercials, and lots of comments that infomercials typically attract.

The bad reviews seem to be mostly about curing time. There aren't many who disagree with the claim that the glue is press-and-done instant stick.

I notice there's a Fast-cure Marine version of 5200. I might try that. Or I might try an epoxy putty. That PC-7 epoxy has been holding golfballs to pop bottles for decades in hardware stores. Hard to beat that track record!

Yeah, but it does take a few days for a full cure....my transducer is mounter under my transom with a few gobs of PC holding it in place.

One of the issue glue "stuff" to aluminum is how fast the metal oxidizes after cleaned. Make sure to get any adhesive on quickly after sanding and cleaning the metal.

I'd use 3M 4200 fast cure. If you ever want to move, remove or otherwise dink with your mount 5200 is not the stuff...

After speaking with a 3M engineer yesterday I'm now considering their VHB 5952 mounting tape. it's heavy duty, conformable, stays full strength underwater, and meant for slick plastics like polypropylene & polyethylene.

I suppose Stern Saver has a good reason to make glue-on mounts using a type of plastic that nothing sticks to.
