Electric Winch on trailer

I'm putting an electric winch and battery on my trailer. I'm concerned about using the webbing strap that came with the battery box, as it's easy to cut. Any suggestions for a more durable method of securing the battery to the trailer?

A steel battery box off of heavy equipment or steel box used to mount under a trailer or flatbed, check out northern tools dot com

Do you have a build thread anywhere?

Never gave any thought to a metal box. Thanks!

Yes, there should be a build process on this site. I'll have to look as photo bucket may have blocked my pictures.

I'm wondering.... why an electric winch?

I'm able to drive my boat all the way up the trailer..

Powerloading is a big no no in some places. If your using more than idle speed to drive your boat/pontoon up the trailer please consider the damage your prop wash may be causing to the ramp.

Power loading is frowned upon in CT.

Additionally, I had major back surgery last year and thought an electric winch would be the best choice for future visits to the lakes.

Loyd, that might just be the ticket! I could make it large enough to store a Jack and chocks.

I have an electric winch on my airboat trailer.

The battery box (standard nylon one) is bolted to the aluminum trailer frame with stainless nuts and bolts.

I tie on the lid with a piece of dock line, rather than using the flimsy plastic belt thing that came with the battery box.

ain't no way he could build a wood pontoon

Instead of a battery why not add new plug from truck to power winch?

I'm hoping to develop my skill set ......

I don't want to restrict which vehicle can be used to tow the boat. My Dad has a truck with a plug and I would not be able to launch his boat from my truck.
