Since we have tons of clean water between our pontoons why not mount transducer near front of boat on a spring loaded arm?

i guess you're proposing a vertical arm placed between the logs, with transducer at the end...
it would have to be significantly below water level, because the front of the boat does rise a bit while moving forward, especially at speed.
without careful planning, loading/unloading from trailer could result in damage to this creation
although probably not significant, it would increase drag
we sometimes like to go under our boat while in water, to escape sun, and goof off, and to wash inside portion of logs, this added feature would be another thing to dodge while boat is moving around
spring loaded? just something else to rust/break.

She cruises at 20 knots, drag is not an issue
Will see how it does this weekend, down and side scan is wild, played with it in marina

I was checking out my neighbor's setup last weekend. His transducer was always getting bent when sticking out from the rear of the float so he made a mount that attaches to his motor pod.
