Question about prop pitch

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. I have a 2015 Lowe SF214 with a 2015 90HP Merc 4S. The existing prop has been dinged up a bit, and I want to replace it. The boat came with a 14X13 prop. WOT is 5300RPM at 21MPH. The Mercury prop selector page is suggesting a 14X11 prop for my weight/engine combination. I plan on staying with an aluminum 3 blade prop.

Looking for thoughts about which prop to go with. I believe that 5800RPM is max for my engine.

Thanks!

I'd say 14x11 would put you spot on!

Yes, 5,300 WOT on the 13 pitch shows that your pitch is too high (WOT RPM's are too low), so you're not getting your engine up to max horsepower.

I have ordered the 14X11 replacement. That was my first thought also, given the WOT RPM. I was just a little concerned to make a change from what may have been the original prop supplied when the boat was new. I hate to second guess the manufacturer. I'll post the results once I put it on and do some test runs. Thanks for the responses!

I'm running a 13 x 16 on my 20 ft Lowe with a 90 Optimax Merc. I can get 27 mph at 5800 rpm(if tach is correct) That is with a stainless prop---strangely a 13 x 16 aluminum will get me 1-2 mph more---go figure.
