Vinyl deck installation

#1 Post by bmcweb96 » Wed Jul 25, 2018 5:53 am

I recently had a new vinyl deck installed - looks great. However I noticed when underway at speed it flutters slightly, rising above the plywood deck. Shouldn't it have been glued down??

who did this? goes without a question "I thought" of course it has to be glued down. the installer must have had too much "liquid accuracy" while installing. :drink4

Just assumed they glued it until I saw it fluttering - installer apologized and offered to fix it after the season. I don't want to be without the boat right now. They'll have to break it all down but I'm wondering if they'll be able to remove the staples (surely they stapled it). Don't want to name the installer just yet... Unless he doesn't come through.

"Installer apologized????????? That would be like hearing a framing carpenter apologize for forgetting to use nails when they framed your house. And why would they use staples for it? My guess is they removed the edges around the flooring, cut it to fit, reinstalled the edging, reset the seats and called it a day!

If you bought the materials from that installer, I'd tell them to keep the money for the materials and refund 100% of the labor. If they didn't provide the material, I'd want all my money back!
