We pull our 20 foot toon with a 2010 Toyota 4 Runner SR 5 / 4.0 V6. With the boat in tow we get about 16.5 mpg. Without it about 19 to 20.
That's pretty good, My V8 4 Runner got 18 or 12 while towing. Some years the V6 had more HP than the V8, but about 30 less torque.

I think someone already replies about the tow mode, but tow mode changes the F150's shift points and will not shift to 6th gear, which is my highest. There is no change to braking. I do have an electric brake controller but no electric brakes on this trailer. If I was doing a lot of towing through the mountains, I think I'd add the electric brake feature. I had electric brakes on the ex's horse trailer and that was nice.

I have a 2014 Escalade ESV (6.2L AWD) and towing my 20 foot toon on single axel bunk trailer I get about 8-8.5mpg’s in tow/haul mode at 70-75mph. Not towing that thing will do around 19-20mpgs at same speed. I just got back from a 520 mile trip 1 way (1040 round trip) and it was brutal on the wallet for fuel, but we had so much fun it was worth it. I may consider a programmer to see if I can up the mpg’s a little when towing.
