Got my new boat, kinda !!!

Ok guys crazy long story and very frustrating to say the least. We bought our boat last November as some might remember me posting. It's the 2018 brochure photo boat from Tahoe. Dealer was awesome until a month ago when we started asking about delivery.

I called and my wife called, took days to get a response. They had all winter to get it cleaned, sealegs installed, trailer under it. Every time we called we were told let me get with service. I finally started calling service and I will say they are very helpful, but the ball was dropped on my boat. Sea legs never got ordered.

Last Saturday they were finally installed and we thought we were good to go . Starting Tuesday I said when can I get the boat. Was told they need to clean it, run it and check it over. Thursday morning I called and said just give it to me I'll be there in the afternoon. They said they will call when it ready. I left my job site at 3:30 and headed their way . Half way there they called say they couldn't complete the oil change because they were 2 quarts short of oil for the verado. (Motor only had 7 hours but I made that part of the deal last fall) on my way there I drive right by the Detroit bass pro marine service center so I offered to get oil for my new boat just to get it in my possession.

I get the the oil( they are reimbursing me) and they say your boat will be ready in a half hour. They had replaced the transducer and fixed something with the mood lights. After waiting over an hour they came and told me it would not start. No power at the console. I asked to see it and there it was sitting on the correct heavy duty trailer with sea legs hooked up to a computer trying to figure out what to do. They asked if they could deliver it to me on Friday. I said ok, but clean it first. The logs and interior hadn't been touched.

Never heard a word Friday until I called and they said it was still broke and they are trouble shooting still. The whole time service has been great. The ball was dropped by sales. I call corporate (Tommy's it a chain of dealers they just recently bought out this location in Detroit area) and said that I want my money back. S minute later the manager called saying sorry and that they are trying he believes something happened when the sea legs were installed. I told him that's fine but I didn't by a project and I bought in November to have a boat by memorial day.

He said let me see what I can do. Called back ten minutes later and offered me a 27' Tahoe Cascade platinum rear lounge with a 300 verado until mine is fixed! I thought that was fair and agreed to it. They called me at 7:59 this morning saying it was on a trailer ready to go and full of fuel.

Took it out for a couple hours and it is sweet ! Going to be disappointed when I get my 175 verado lol. This thing is loaded, power recliners, power Bimini (glad I don't have one. Flimsy and just sitting still I thought the wind was going to tear it off. You have to stow it anytime you go over 25 mph and that means the rear recliners can't get used) and every bell and whistle like lights and stereo system.

I'm very pleased to have a boat until ours is fixed. They have a new wiring harness on order. Until then I have a pricy piece of collateral lol.

She's a big girl to get into the garage and a few feet to long as well lol

Just crazy they had all winter to get yours ready and did not do it. Hope that is not a sign of issues to come from your dealer

Good thing you saw through the BS on not having enough oil to complete the oil change and took away their excuse.

At least they put you in a boat for the holiday.

While getting the oil at the bass pro service center I had no problem running my mouth about why I was there. Our bass pro is actually really good I have a friend who bought a boat from them. Anyway they said when and if you need motor service or parts , we'll take care of it!

I'm glad to hear at least you got something to use in the interim, and a pretty nice rig in the meantime. When they finally do call and say your is ready, I'd tell them to meet you at whatever body of water you normally boat in. Take their loaner boat there, and after an extensive sea trial of your new boat, you can swap keys and let them drag their loaner back to their shop. No way I'd accept delivery of your rig until after I've had it in the water and tested everything thoroughly. And no way I'd schlep their boat back to their shop either!

By the way, glad to hear your opinion of the electric bimini. I almost bought one, but when I read that it has to be stowed above 25mph, that was a deal killer for me.

Well I've had the boat out three days in a row. While it's not mine I respect nice things and it's been wiped down and parked inside every night.

I would love to see how much full throttle runtime I've put on it lol. For being so big of a boat it's fast. Best we've gotten is 50.2 MPH! The coolest thing is you can go wide open and just cut the wheel as hard as you can. It doesn't bank as much as the Bennington with the center 32 elliptical that I test drove ,but it sure leans in. Honestly it's probably just about right, I know some of my regular passengers would freak turning like that lol. With 8 adults, 2 kids and a couple small coolers , and 3/4 tank of fuel I got 42 MPH.

Until my boat is ready I'm enjoying the h.p. and that white verado with 300 stamped on the back gets a lot of attention! I'll keep you guys posted on what happens this week!

Ok I built it online quickly and was surprised to see the price. I knew it was expensive but kinda feeling like a big deal lol. They can take their time on my boat (would love my sealegs ) for now. I can't believe this is pontoon pricing let alone sitting in my garage lol. you can get a sweet late model cruiser for that kind of money!!!
