Buying a 1997 Crest 22 II

#1 Post by motorman » Thu Jul 30, 2009 6:00 pm

Looking at an older Toon. I read that Crest makes a good boat. Seller having a marine company check out 40hp Mercury and I will go down and have the company check out the boat. The boat hasn't been used since 2001 and than only several times. Two questions what is your opinion of that model Crest and are 23" toons big enough for a large lake in WA. Thanks

Just Welcoming you to the nut house, now do you think a 997 would have a 50 horse steam engine on it or just a bunch of guys rowing :tofunny

Oh any mistakes you make, you can correct if you want to later, by hitting edit and redoing, I use it a lot because I like to think I typed words when I just thought them.

Motorman,

Welcome. The lake we're on ,Grand Lake O'The Cherokees, if very enjoyable early in the morning, but when the Go-Fast boats and cruisers come out, by mid-afternoon, there is some pretty heft chop. Not very enjoyable. By that time we've anchored in quiet cove to float and swim.

Also, with a 22' Toon & a 50 HP, you will want to adhere to max allowable weights. Pushing a head wind trying to get off the lake when a storm comes up with a boat load of people can be a challenge, but I see a bunch of 22' toons around on our lake.

Hope you find one that fits your needs and makes you smile every time you start it up!
