Help choosing hp

We are looking at getting a 22 maybe a 23 ft Triton. We're looking at having anywhere between 4 to 10 people on it probably more around 8 normally. We would like to be able to tube, ski and wakeboard behind it. Will a 150 be enough or should I really look at doing a 200?

If doing Yamaha, the F200 I4 is only a couple grand more than the F150. Well worth it even if you have to run 89 to get the true 200. With 8 people though you might benefit from the V6 200 and up. Displacement gives you that mid-range cruising torque.

F200 on my heavy G3 (has foam filled tubes) with full 38 gallon tank of gas, wife, gear, 250 lbs worth of dogs, and both tops deployed will cruise at 30mph around 4400 RPM. Throw four more people on and it drops 4-5 mph but being a stern lounge model that's with more weight than we should have up front. Most tritoons in that size range say to limit bow weight to 500lbs when cruising.

Like everyone says, you'll never regret running as much hp as the boat will allow.

What ever your boat is rated for should be what you put on
