Ice can be a bit of a pain but maybe it's my only option.

somthing to check into is the camper fridge that runs off electric/gas or 12 volt...
i had one years ago and we used it in the back of the pick up when we used to tent camp. it would run a day or two and never run down the truck battery

yep, watch craigslist for someone selling an rv fridge... The ones out of a popup are small enough for what you want to do! I would run it off propane and just bring a 5 gallon tank along.

I have a 12 volt Norcold marine fridge on the PC, got it on eBay for $250. It'll run 3 - 31/2 days on a marine battery and gets about as cold as a dorm type fridge.
I installed a dedicated battery for it. Propane fridges work better and being a pontoon, there's not much danger of propane leaking and collecting in low spots (causes alot of fires/explosions on cruisers).

My experience with propane fridge's in travel trailers has not been good. A compressor type 12v-120v would be more efficient. The absorption type are not as effective in my opinion. There are lots of them out there for reasonable cost.

Well my 12v/120/gas camper fridge had a tiny (6"x 6") freezer that would freeze ice cubes
