Whimpy horns
My brand new expensive Manitou has a horn that I can barely hear when underway. Very whimpy.
Do any of you know where Manitou mounts the horn?
Any recomendations for a LOUD horn? I might even go for an AUGA horn if loud enough.
Thanks.

Re: Whimpy horns
Most of them seem to be mounted under the deck near the front of the boat. And yes, most of them are pretty wimpy.

Re: Whimpy horns
I think so. If you get under the front of the boat they are typically mounted to one of the front crossmembers or the bottom of the deck near one front corner. Most of them are just cheap plastic with a cloth cover over the horn.

Re: Whimpy horns
I recall a while back that someone posted about installing the Harbor Freight Bad Boy horn on their toon. It is reportedly much louder than stock horns. I may try some on mine at some point. Mine had only a single horn that didn’t work, so I replaced it with an identical one and wired a second one on the other side of the boat. They are both mounted behind a panel with the running lights at the front corners of the front panel.

Re: Whimpy horns
Thanks. That 'bad boy' air horn looks like it would most likely fit and be heard better than original equipment.
Tried to locate my horn and like your, it sounds like it's on the front corner in front drivers side of boat. How to get to it is still a question in my mind. Hopefully it's not to hard for this big ole guy to maneuver and replace....I suppose access to it would be via the seat storage area on that front corner.

Re: Whimpy horns
Oops. I made my last post before reading this one. So ...horns are not hard to get to once boat is out of the water. got it. I won't take out just for the horn ....in fact when we do take out it will be my first time trailering a tritoon. could be interesting. LOL I've trailered V bottom boats for years so I don't expect any issues but it will be different.
Re: Whimpy horns
You shouldn't need to wait until it's out of the water. Tomorrow, while you're anchored and swimming around, float on up to the front, and ask the wife to hit the button a time or 2 -- you'll find it!

Re: Whimpy horns
It is probably just hanging down, exposed to the water on the bottom of the deck. Access from below (the water) not above.
