Welding?

I used it a few years back on some square tubing and it worked pretty good. I tried again on a small crack on nose come of former boat and it failed bad, I thought it was good till it cooled then it cracked.
I think it is fine for non stressed jobs but not for something that could fail on say a hand rail or step
