Looking at Regency, anyone here have experienced buying a boat and follow up service at Cabelas? I have no other dealers close.

I don't like the fact that you can't really negotiate price there. But my biggest concern would be having a dealer that isn't on the water. If I have a problem, I want to be able to demonstrate that problem when I drop off the boat, and I want to make sure it's fixed when I pick up the boat. You can't do that if the dealer isn't on the water, or close enough to go with you for a a test drive.

I just prefer for a dealer to compete for my business with a fair price. Bass Pro/Cabelas' one price marketing doesn't appeal to me. They really hit you heavy on preparation and transportation charges too.

Service is another matter. And all dealers are different in that matter. I've never been impressed with the service at a retail sporting goods store. I would prefer to do business with a dealership that has a real service department.

Since I have never purchased a boat from a big box store I cannot comment on their service.
Maybe read some online reviews, which most likely will be mostly negative so you just factor that in.
If talking to a sales guys ask to visit their service area and see what's going on.
If they wont let you back there, go elsewhere.
Also, what motor comes with it. If yam or merc, those dealers are almost everywhere for service.
Buying local almost always has a benefit, if dealer has been there long term.

It's September and if I remember right you're up around Chicago. Might want to just drop back and punt until next year.
