New Lake House website

#1 Post by steve1313 » Tue May 11, 2021 1:19 pm

As I think I've mentioned on the forum before, I decided to build a house at the lake. I thought it would be fun to create a website to track the process and give a bit of background. So I've created a website for the house, which I'm calling THE ESCAPE at Lake Anna.

Check it out if you're interested and follow along as the house progresses through the summer.

Man, this is great! Your site looks really good, and I enjoyed reading through the process. Can't wait for updates and progress pictures. I hope you enjoy the process all the way through.

Steve, I visited your site and will be following your progress. We’ve had our lake lot in a nearby state for 8 or 9 years. Each year we look forward to building but something always takes priority (and our resources), like buying a home for a child, moving a parent from another state into assisted living nearby, etc. I retired at year end so this was going to be the year we sell our home and build our new home at the lake. Then, lumber and building material prices recently skyrocketed causing us to once again delay our dream.

The lake is about 2 hours away. We keep the pontoon in dry dock there and we and/or the kids use it occasionally in the summer. We go over regularly and mow the lot which we cleared a few years ago.

We need to build! Have the lumber prices impacted your project? How badly?

I signed my contract in February, so my price is locked in, but my GC tells me that the modular builder has raised prices 3 times since February. 3% increase each month. Luckily he's locked in, too.

One another note, When I closed on my lot in January, it was appraised. It got re-appraised in May for the construction loan. The value of just the lot increased by 50%, yep, FIFTY percent in about 90 days!!

F-ing Biden Harris offenses, F-ing Job&Business, F-ing New Problems, F-ing Construction $hit? I'm just filling in the acronyms with my vocabulary since I have no idea what you wrote. I kinda expected to FLP in there also (F-ing Lumber Prices). :donno

Got the email and checked it out. REAL progress! I do agree about the light touch by the crane operator with that kind of weight hanging off of the boom. Not his first rodeo.

I do enjoy these updates.
