Goodbye friends

#1 Post by ROLAND » Fri Feb 23, 2024 7:31 pm

Well, I guess it happens to all of us if we hang around long enough. But after about 15 years as a member of this forum I am leaving. Up until 3 or 4 years ago I was extremely active on this board and was pretty much a daily contributor. But after 11 years of loving the pontoon life, we found ourselves spending less and less time on the boat. Not really sure why that happened, could be we're just getting older, could be wanting to spend more time with the grand kids, who knows why, but the fact was we were hardly ever out on the boat the last 3 or 4 years. And then about 7 weeks ago we sold our home in northwest Louisiana and moved to be closer to those grand babies. And then it happened. About 2 weeks ago a friend reached out to me and started asking me questions about my boat and wanting to know if I wanted to sell it. When I started adding up the monthly cost of storing it in an indoor facility, insurance, maintenance and of course the fact that we just didn't use it any more, I agreed to sell our Benny. I've made some really good friends on this forum and this forum was instrumental in teaching me everything about pontoon boats. I knew nothing when I started but after a few years in this group, I finally felt I knew what the hell I was doing, lol. I want to thank all of the old timers on this forum that walked me thru every question or concern I had. Everything from teaching me how to load the boat onto the trailer without losing my mind, to actual DIY maintenance on my little Yamaha 4 stroke engine. i'm probably not thru boating completely.. only now I'll just rent a boat for the afternoon. LOL. Thanks again boys, and please be safe out on the water.

We will miss you but you can still jump in now and then, I find the older I get, the more I never leave the house unless I'm working.

I'm too old to get invited out anywhere anymore, and Church takes up more of my life, who knew 30 years ago I would become a respected member of the Church with many responsibilities as security, greeting people and making 100's of cookies for special meeting.

Wishing you the best and don't be a stranger

See ya ROLAND It's been a good time. We've got 3 gkids under 3 so know where you're coming from. Still take THE FLOATER out every now and then but spun the prop on the last day of the season last year, so have to deal with that. We got a bunkhouse camper last year that's been what we've been doing the most. I'll email you my personal info maybe we can come down and camp. Need to check LA off the map!

Roland, I have enjoyed your posts and interaction on the board, but I fully understand. You will be missed!

Where did you move to?

Who knows. At some point, things may change again.

As far as I'm concerned, you'd be welcome back any time.

Enjoy the family.
