I guess I’ll be signing off this site now that I no longer own a pontoon and will never have need for another one at my age. You members have been incredibly helpful and interesting over the years that I have been a member and I’ve gotten so much helpful and valuable advice and ideas for improving and caring for my boat. We loved our pontoon but it was only getting used a couple of times a year and as retirees we didn’t need to keep paying monthly dry dock costs, insurance and registration fees if no one was using the boat.
I was amazed at how quickly the 19 year old boat sold. I got back everything that I put in it. My DiL listed it for me on FB Marketplace (I don’t do social media) and got tons of responses immediately from all over the country with buyers wanting to drive as much as 6 hours one way to buy it sight unseen. It sold in a day for full asking price. There were 4 other full price back-up offers and lots of “Is it still available?” inquiries. I imagine the fact that it was always stored in dry dock at the marina, had only about 250 hours on it and the interior looked almost new made the difference, or could it have been the included Big Mable inflatable, tow rope and neoprene life jackets or perhaps the full-length aluminum under skin? Now that I think about it, I’m sure that the EzFenders are what sold it (thanks Brian!).
I still have my Tracker bass boat so I haven’t left the water entirely. I also put my lake lot up for sale and got 4 attractive offers the first day but realtor says to sit on it a while longer.
Happy boating to all!
John

While I certainly understand your reasoning, it does seem sad to me. I'm only 71 and not retired, so I still put a lot of hours on my old beater pontoon boat.
Your boat looks beautiful, hoping you got top dollar for it!
Best of luck to you and yours,
Marc

The marina being almost 2 hours from our home had a lot to do with the boat getting very little use. Based on the number of full price offers I received, I’m sure that I priced it too low but that’s okay.

Yep, two hours away and paying dry dock fees would likely bring me to the same conclusion.
