Thanks for ruining my self esteem... my 84 Mercury 75 HP Brown Stripe motor still runs flawlessly.It's a premix motor and simply doesn't give me a hard time at all.Guess it's time to upgrade and I didn't even realize it.MrGadget wrote:I wouldn't go near an older 2-stroke that didn't have DFI and a self-managed oil reservoir. if the motor is running good is't a money hog then i wouldn't upgrage unless you are looking for an excuse. yes the newer motors get better fuel economy. and the horse power is rated at the prop not at the crank. but still if you are happy with it stay with it. motors are the most expensive part of your boat.
