I went and did it. I bought my 1st pontoon boat, HELP

Want to say hello to everyone. Looks like a great forum. Well I am pushing 50 and have always wanted a pontoon so I picked one up the other day. Thing is, it looks like a pontoon boat, has a 140 Evinrude outboard but the hull is fiberglass. It's a 1992 Sun Tracker 2400. 24' long with Astroride on the side. Question is I cant find any info about this style boat. Can someone give the the low down, pro's and cons. Possible top speed? Also, how the heck can I get the waterline off the hull, my arm is about to fall off from waxing it. She should be in the water in a week, just getting her squared away first. Thanks

Sounds like it is a deck boat, similiar to a pontoon but has the fiberglass instead of toons. Try cleaner wax and if that doesn't work use Meguiars paint cleaner, should make the job go much quicker, then apply the wax. Welcome and congrats

Thanks for the welcome. So even though it is aluminum on top it is a deck boat because of the fiberglass hull? Most Deckboats I have seen are fiberglass top and bottom. Are they that much slower because of the weight?

Their faster because of the planing hull, pontoons have displacement hulls which means it goes through the waves in stead of on top of it.

But you can have fun in a deckboat too, just a difference in ride and deck space.
