Ski pylon-Still looking!

#1 Post by asop » Tue Aug 25, 2009 4:32 pm

I've been all over the net and still can't determine just who manufactures these things? The ones I've seen have too big a stern leg spread for my 2000 Marnarch. Looking for one with a 40". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

MonArk toons are made by Starcraft. Have you tried going thru a dealer? You will probably pay more but they may have something especially made for your toon. :fasttoon

Hi all, been lurking for a while, but never registered til now.. This is a cool place !
Here's a pic of the tow bar I just finished for mine.
As you can see, it's custom made to fit my boat, leg spacing, motor height, etc...
Even has the stainless eye for hooking the rope to!!
I might could be persuaded to make one (custom for your boat) and ship it to you with all stainless mounting hardware, and everything with instructions for 250.00 shipped to your door.
Let me know if you're interested or if you see any design flaws in my set-up..
I'm always open to improvements !
Thanks,
Daniel

I had considered "rolling" or bending the top tube into the vertical legs, instead of welding straight pieces.. But in order to do that, it would have turned into a typical Daniel project, and involved buying more tools and spending more money than I would have, had I just bought a factory made tow bar for.. But I digress. LOL :biggrin2

It sure easy to overbuild projects like this! The only thing I might have done would have been to weld in some triangle gusset plates at the bottom 90 connection, that looks like the weakest point even with the upper braces!

yes sir.. I actually bought a half sheet of 3/16" cold rolled to make some gussetts.
This is definitely a design in process. LOL
My neighbor has already ordered one.. but I told him I want a few weeks to "perfect my design" before taking any solid orders.

cool, have you pulled anyone yet? I would imagine two or three people on a big tube would be the ultimate stress test! :fasttoon

I have pulled my wife (135#) and son (120#) individually and together... No problems yet.. But when I get my 240 pound brother on there will be the test..
I'll report back how it goes !!
