Good evening fellas!

#1 Post by jim454 » Sun Aug 30, 2009 5:38 am

I'm writing from the pontoon. We found a nice cove south of the metro by about 30 miles. We're on the tail end of a 3 day trip to Stillwater . We traveled down the Mississippi to Prescott Ws. and then hung a left up the St.Croix to Stillwater Mn. We brought Uncle Rog the gadget guy with us for this trip. DVD player going on in the background and we got the heater fired up, it's nippy out here tonight. I don't have much for pics but we did meet 3 different guys heading for the gulf, one on a raft with a pup tent pitched to it and 2 canoers that started from the mouth. They were all about a half day apart from each other. Hopefully will have a few pics for you all when I get home. Battery died on the phone last night so I'm actually posting this morning.

This guy was a charachter. We swung by to see if he needed anything, I don't think he was in the mood for socializing. An odd duck, he had 2 oars with pvc slid over the ends for extra length and was sitting on one of those wally world folding chairs. I don't know how far he was planning to go but would imagine that Lake Pepin would eat that thing if he made it that far. Half the fun of the Mississippi is the interesting charachters and vessels you come across.
