Navigation light?

#1 Post by Jerry D » Sat Sep 12, 2009 7:06 pm

I recently purchased a 1985 Sun Tracker 24' Party Barge with no Navigation lighting. The front lighting was easy but the clear light at the back is giving me fits. I found wiring in the Bimini top frame and looking at the holes, it looks as if it was mounted on top of the frame. Can anyone tell me what light came on this boat?

Are you trying to keep the boat original?

Just about any stern light will work as long as it is able to be folded down.

I have the new light, but can't figure out how take the light assembly (which includes the headlight) off. The original light hit the dock and smashed into pieces. The light assembly is the top right picture in the attached (not sure how well it will post online).

Can't it to under the seats I guess, should be able to remove that light housing some way to get to the wire, but have you tried fishing for it with a piece of stiff wire with a small hook bent on it, with a hook you can twist it and catch the wire and pull it out.

Might take a few times to get it but I used it many times and it works most times, just don't get in a hurry and you should be able to get it back out.

Thanks for the picture. It looks like the original bracket must have been problematic by the amount of holes in the Bimini frame.
I guess I will make my own mount, Thanks again,
Jerry...

My Bentley lost the stern light off the bimini as well. Same issue with lots of worn out holes up there. I took a small piece of aluminum and pop riveted it over the mess then mounted my after market light to the new piece of aluminum. I also mounted a small push button light on the inside of the bimini that I wired to the stern light. Works great and spreads a lot of light under the top at night.
