command link and digital controls

#1 Post by boatwest » Wed Sep 30, 2009 12:26 pm

I'm specing a 250 hp Yamaha for my tri-toon and it comes with the Command Link and optional digital control gauge option. Just wondering how the Command Link controls feel? It is suppose to very smooth concerning gear changes and acceleration/deaceleration compared to the typical mechanical controls. Can't wait to try it but it will be next March before that happens. The 250 and up only come with the Command Link. Some refer to this a "fly by wire" system. Just wondering what to expect - suppose to be very nice.

I have a Mercury Verado with their fly by wire controls and I like it very much. It took some getting used to as it is more sensitive than the mechanical systems but once I was used to it, it is very nice and you will like it.
