Tach fix

Ok guys and gals I need your help

Year or so ago we took a lightning hit at home. The boat got some of it also though not direct. My tach stopped after that along with nav lights. I changed blown fuses and got nav lights back but didn't mess with tach. Well my girls gave me a $100.00 Bass Pro gift card so I decided to replace tach. I installed it and all wires are right yet it doesn't work. Do any of you know if there is a fuse under cowel for that as I can't find one. My charging system is working fine so not sure why tach doesn't.

May have fried a wire or connection, shouldn't be a fuse in a tach line, if you have a meter ohm it out, you can start by putting 2 ends together and get to see what the other end tells you, if it's open you got a bad wire, if it shows closed loop separate the other ends and see if it goes open.

But I would bet one of the wires being burnt in two

My Yamaha has fuses under the motor cover for all the engine peripherals, not sure about a Merc.
