purchased my first toon recently and am in need of suggestions on how to fix her up a tad.
its a used one so need a little fine tuning. I'll just start with one problem at a time and hopefully you guys can help.

1) I need to shore up the railing/fencing all around the boat. It is really loose and flimsy. Any suggestions on the best way to do this. Any web sites to locate the materials?

Welcome

So tell what kind of toon are you working on and the fence should be screwed down to the deck, check you fastners on it.

Oh we love pictures by the way

Depending on your furniture one way to shore up the fencing is to screw it right to the wood framing in the seats. That's how my boat is configured with long stainless steel wood screws. Holes are drilled through the center cross member and screwed right into the backs of the seats. Very solid.

My toon is a conglomeration of several I think. The pontoons came from a 1986 aqua-patio. all new decking and carpet with the furniture coming out of a 1990's model but have no idea. The fencing i could not begin to tell you where it came from..lol...its sounds hodge podge but it really does look pretty good, I think.

Never would have thought to link it to the actual furniture and I will have to look into that as a possibility. I'm thinking im gonna have to take it all down and start over from scratch as far as getting it sturdy enough to carry and hold a bimini.

I would recomend there on both sides of the gate inside a stainless steel triangle 6" to 8 inches tall and comming out to the floor 4" to 5". bolted stainless no screws. If that is not clear maybe i can get some pic's. Thanks for your pic's :?

Those above are ok but if you have a good aluminum welder I recommend a D brace made from sq al tubing, bent and welded. I had them on my old Sundancer and right at front gate where everyone grabbed when coming aboard in the 10 years we owned it the railing was as tight as new. I would put them on each side of each gate.
