Big toons or little toons?

Hi there I'm new to pontoons, have outgrown the 20' deck

I'm purchasing a Sweetwater Tuscany 24' with a Yamaha 115hp 4stoke. The boat comes with 23" toons with an option of 25's. While I have time is it worth going to the larger toon's. I will usually have the boat full and felt bigger would be better for stability and fuel. The dealer felt 23's would be better on this lighter boat. Any suggestions???

25 would offer more floation so you be able to carry more weight and should be a little faster

I have a Tuscany 22ft with the 25" toons and recommend them, especially with bigger loads! The extra flotation is a good feature as far as speed is concerned who really cares. Mine with a 90 hp Yammy 4 stroke will do 25 mph wide open with 2 on board. When I have 8 or 10 folks it's still sitting up out of the water. I've seen toons with 23's and 8 folks sitting lower than I want especially in the back. You will like your boat, I've had mine going on 4 years and no complaints. :2cents

Get the 25's They help in two ways. Keeps deck higher out of water so less likely to submarine when taking big waves or wakes and with full loads will allow you to sit higher also

Go with the bigger toons for more flotation and better handling in higher waves.

Bigger is always better in regards to boats from horsepower, size and or course logs :rofl :rofl

Mine are 26" x 32', so I win length AND girth :rofl :rofl

mine are 27" so I win the girth prize unless there are some other hpt's out there! I wonder what they would be like in a tri setup?

Thanks there, and I catch your drift, haha. :biggrin2 I'm meeting up with the dealer today to wrap up all the options and to order the boat. Little scared. It's funny, the dealer didn't pressure me, just asked what I would be trading in and priced out the Tuscany with few options most would expect. I'm used to car sales where the pressure is great, not with boats?? Thanks again and I'll let you know the outcome. Ted
