Hey Guys,
as i mentioned before I am a new owner. I am stocking the boat now with all the neccesities and saftey equipment that I have to have by law. What I need now is a place to store my boat on Lake Lanier in Georgia. We have dry stack here but they wont take Toons. Does anyone out there have some ideas on this?

Have you tried the marinas over on Friendship Rd by Lake Lanier Islands? I'm pretty sure they take toons. We live near Lake Lanier, but have a place on Lake Chatuge up in the mountains (1.5hrs north). Up until this year, our boat has been at Boundary Waters Marina on Lake Chatuge. We've had a covered slip since 2007 for about $2000/yr. We are getting a lift and our slip will be available next month.

Aqualand would be nice, how far on the water is it from Lake Lanier Islands? Also, how far is Aqualand from GA400? We were looking at hideaway bay?

It's about 5 or six miles by land from Freindship Rd. and McEver the intersection before Lake lanier Islands. Just continue down McEver past Friendship Rd. toward Gainsville and Aqualand is on the left you will see a big sign on the left. Ga 400 is on the other side of the lake you would use I-985 to get to Aqualand.

I think we are going to get a shared slip in the north cove at aqualand, she said those slips were more protected from the main channel.

Thats where I'm at in Z22. The water is very quiet back there, it's behind a large sea wall for the houseboats. Tell them I sent ya if you don't mind and I get 1 free month.

Thanks Phil. I will def tell them, we may be neighbors. How is it sharing a slip with someone else? Do you find any issues keeping your boat in all year round?

I have my slip to myself right now. When I had a little smaller boat 20 foot x 8 foot I shared it with a smaller sail boat and we didn't have any problems at all. You will have the option of walking the dock and picking from the available slips. You should be able to find one that is close to the shore line without a neighbor if thats what you want. My boat now is 27 foot by 8 1/2 feet so it can get tight if someone moves in next to me...that will happen sooner or later. They have alot of slips available now because of the economy. Also if the cover over the tires on the dock has holes in it, tell them to replace it, those naked tires rub ugly marks on the toons after a while. They will do this for free. The north side is the place you want to be, I started out on the south side a few years ago because it was the only thing available, got dock rash all over one side of my brand new toon. The water on the south side is unprotected from large cruiser boat traffic and in the summer it really gets rockin on that side of the marina. I leave my boat in the water year round and have never had any problems. Aqualand is a nice marina with good people and pretty good security, never had any problems at all. Let me know what your dock number is and maybe we can meet up some weekend. My wife and I are out their almost every weekend. We camp at Old Federal campground which is just across the cove from Aqualand, you can see it from my slip. I'll be their tomorrow, first weekend of the season for me time to get the camper and the boat out and I'm ready.

It looks like ZA 4-6 and 11-13 are open. ZC55-57 are also open. These are all docks that have two open slips.

Just got back from the lake. E-mail
drycleanhe@yahoo.com. I know there are some open spaces with 2 slips on Z dock as well. Get as close to the shore line as possible. Hauling your stuff down to the boat then back again at the end of a long day can be a pain if you are all the way on the end. You also have a pretty big boat so having enough space between docks to swing into the slip is also important. Check out Z-Dock the spaces I'm talking about are close to the shore. The girl at the marina "Kari" I think is her name might not tell you about all the available slips unless you ask. Those spaces have been empty for a long time. Let me know what slips you are thinking about and I'll take a look at them.
