To toon or not to toon?

Newbie with an old question. I currently have an older deckboat with a nice new 115etec on back. The new engine really gets the boat moving but the river I typically run in has consistent 1'-2' chop with 3' swells and my back is taking a beating. I either have to go below planing speed 8mph or 20mph to stay on plane. I've read that toons being a displacment hull would ride better and give me more flexible operatin range, since I don't have to get on plane. Would a 22' 2 toon with 24" logs achieve what I'm after?
thanks for any and all input!

Tough question, pontoon would be less of a beating, but then a 3 foot swell could submerine the toon if wave hit wrong, I ask a few others what they think and reply back here

Keep you load light and towards the back and you'll love it.
