It will depend on how heavily built your boat is. Mine is built for a max 70 hp motor so it is built on the light side. I have always had some flexing going through the chops at speed. I started to notice it getting worse, but didn't think anything of it. One day while on my float, I floated under the boat (that's one thing I love about two loggers

)I noticed I had a "M" bracket on both sides with cracks where the deck bolted on. Had them welded and I am back to slightly flexing. Just something to check.

x members are on 24" centers in the fronts and go to 12" centers in the back. I'll inspect the M brackets in the mornin. I probably should mention shes rated for a 120hp and the original x members are S channel not C

If there is room I would add a 2x2x1/4" aluminum angle all the way across and bolted to cross members and logs. I had a saggy transom ( no old jokes) and thats how I fixed it. The boat is 16 years old and when new owner(6yr ago) took it to Sundancer for refurbish they told him it was a hell of a strong support and left it on.

While you're looking at the brackets, etc. also carefully check out the condition of the plywood floor decking while your at it. Pontoon boats rely heavily upon the deck as a key structural element in their overall stability and structural rigidity. If your plywood is starting to "fail" it could also allow the flexing to take place your speaking of.

thats what i didnt really want to hear

thats a job i dont have time or $$$ for at the moment. the ply wood doesnt have any bad spots in it yet that ive found so hopefully its not that. if its a bad bracket or needs alum reinforcment i can weld that up fairly easily

I have never noticed any flex in mine at all, even on really choppy days, and is only rated for 125hp. max. I wonder if the floor being made of aluminum helps with the structrual regitity?
Hopefully you can get it all figured out there BF. Sounds like guys here have noted a few good options for you.

Bump, have you located whatever ailing it? Hopefully it is or was something simple and easy and inexpensive to fix.

went swimmin yesturday and found some cracked welds on the back M brackets which may or may not be leaking, havnt found proof either way yet. but i think i'll lower my center log so its even with the bottom of the outer logs as i noticed when the bow is on plane, not much of the center log is in the water and the outer logs seem to be carrying the extra weight.

That's warm enough. Hell a couple weeks ago, I was swimming in 50* water.
Glad you may have found the culprit BF. Good luck on getting her fixed up.
