Cadence Audio Equipment?

I ran into an old high school friend the other day at Best Buy. He apparently runs the audio area there. I asked him about marine audio equipment, and he mentioned that he happened to have an amp and 2 pairs of speakers he bought a year ago for a friend, and that the friend gipped him and never bought it. Since he still has it, he'd sell it all to me for $300 (Valued at over $600 according to him). I don't think he was lying about the price, but possibly it's gone down since then, because I found it all for less on the internet.

He said the amp is 60X4, SQA-4 model. He said it retails for $340, but if I found the right one, I found it for $130.

I think this is it: http://www.woofersetc.com/p8277/SQA4--C ... lifier.htm

He said the speakers were $140/pair, and he has two pair. I found them for $45/pair on Amazon. SQS 65 is the speaker.

Here it is: http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart ... roduct=298

So, as you can see, if Cadence is even a good name brand, it looks like I can buy everything he's offering me for about $220 on the internet. I'm sure I could talk him down more based on that, but I'm not sure I even want to. I can't find anything online about Cadence. Nothing good, and nothing bad. Their website is pretty mediocre, which puts a bad taste in my mouth about it.

What do you guys think? Have you heard of Cadence before?

Never heard of them either. I'd skip, and get a brand that you know and trust.

I look at it this way. I'll probably listen to the stereo on my boat more than in my vehicle, so I wouldn't put anything on teh boat, that I wouldn't put in my car. As for marine speakers/amps. I'm not positive there is much of a difference, excepet for a barrier to keep them dry. Hell you can buy those foam barriers separately ( check out ebay ) and make any speaker a marine speaker, unless there are other differences I'm not aware of. :donno

I'd pass. I've never heard of it and it would probably be easier to get a refund from a business if something went wrong.

Cadence? Nope, never heard of them! Go with something that has a reputation: Pioneer, Sony,,,

Ok, I was just wondering if this was possibly some new or slightly unknown elite brand that was known for a great quality build or something.

I'm going to pass. Thanks.

I put some nice speakers in my truck, but no sub or amp. I don't care so much in the truck, but in the boat, it's very important to me. Possibly even more than the grill right now. After taking the boat out a couple times and trying to jam the tunes, it sounded horrible. So weak I couldn't stand it. Needs to be replaced ASAP.
