Beaching the Toon , tying up.

#1 Post by pepper1126 » Sat May 15, 2010 5:09 pm

Hey Guys:

The Other day we saw someone on a beach near us who had some sort of rod they dug into the sand by twisting it, then they tied their boat to it. It held very well and they didnt have ropes all over the place. I went to Bass Pro and they didnt know what i was talking about. Do any of your vets out there know what I am talking about? I would like to have one on the boat. Thanks and cheers.

For 70 bucks I would have to go to the hardware store, get me a shed anchor and put a handle on it or just carry one to twist it in for 20 bucks or less, if you wanted it to look fancy go have it power coated with aluminum color.

If it is attached to the boat it may be a power pole, seen them on a center console an a bass boat but never on a toon or it is like what toondog showed. Think pets mart carries a corkscrew type device that you can screw into the ground for holding dogs.

For 5 bucks I use the pet cork screw like Doc mentioned, screw all the way down into the sand and it holds great all day! Can get them anywhere wally world, even got an extra from a dollar type store for about $3. Nice chrome finish too. I've used it in sand and on dirt banks. Some guys on our beach use a hammer type stake that a guy made and sells for $130, all stainless though, but pretty long. I like my $5 model, I could use 2 and still come out ahead.

I have seen other devices at Overtons too, but still can't beat my price! :thumbsup

People on our lake make a T with PVC pipe. 2 inch. Then go to the marina and buy an auger tip that they use for pier supports. They insert the auger tip into the bottom of the PVC T and run a screw through it to hold it in place. Then they use the T as a handle and screw the thing into the ground on the beach. I have one that we use all the time but wont be able to take any pictures untill I go back to the lake. It is very simple and works great. I ran an eye bolt through mine at the top. Then I have a clip on the rope and just clip it on,,,

Here is another style that looks like it would work great. Look up http://www.go2marine.com and type in screw anchor. Those look like they may be what you seen.

A beautiful young lady goes to new doctor
for an annual exam. After completing his
exam the Dr. asks the girl to get dressed
and wait outside.

After a while he calls her back and tells her
that all her tests came out fine, she was in
perfect health.

"There was just one thing that bothers me,"
he said. "Its those calluses on your knees. "

The girl began blushing and said, "That has to
do with my love making!"

The doctor was confused and asked, "What
has love making to do with your knees?"

She replied, "I do it quite often, and always doggie style."

The Dr. replied, "Don't you know any other style?"

The girl said, "Oh yes, of course I do, but the dog doesn't!!!"

The lakes we always go to, there are all sorts of trees and shrubs close to the banks of the coves, so I have a nice chain that fell off of a Firetruck ( I guess, I found it on the road by my house when I was running one day) that has several different styles and sizes of hooks and things. This works great for tying off to a tree, and then hooking it to my bow cleats.

If it were mud or sand though, I would think that 1 or 2 of the dog chain tie downs would work great. :nana
