towing weight

#1 Post by hotairgypsy » Sun May 16, 2010 10:21 am

I have an 83 suntracker 24' pontoon with a single axle trailer...what do you think the whole thing weights.....

the reason i ask is i may be using a different truck to haul my boat out of storage and it has one of them 1.25 hitches. it is on a 02 surburban. i dont know if the hitch setup is rated high enough for it.

what do you all think?

I'd say about 3500 lbs.

Well the suburban could take it, but I'll agree, the hitch may be a bit small. Have you looked into pricing a class II hitch for it? I got mine at a local automotive recycling yard for $20 b/c it was rusty. I spent a little time cleaning it up, and putting a bunch of fresh paint on it, and it is good as new.
