Upholstery Care

#1 Post by OlJim » Wed May 19, 2010 5:26 am

I'm sure it has been discussed many times but I did a search and couldn't find anything. What do you use on your upholstery to keep it protected from the elements? I've used 303 in the past but was not impressed with the results. Same for Armor All, Eagle One and all the others.
A guy I know that runs a detail shop recommended a product called Lexol that is made for leather.

What happened that 303 didn't work? For UV protection 303 is top of the line. It has to be rep applied though to keep it working. We clean our seats constantly and keep 303 fresh and have had no issues.

Maybe my expectations were too high, I used it extensively on our first RV and didn't really see any benefit. Tires still cracked prematurely and decals shrank and pealed.

303, used it on my Party Cruiser since new and the seats still look new.

I don't know how 303 works on tires, but on seats it's the best I've seen.

I don't think that boat seats are the same as what you listed above. I have used 303 and find it a great product. Unless you plan to park your boat in the sun like an RV 24/7/365. Then nothing will work the sun will take it's toll.

303 Fans: do you use the 303 "Fabric Cleaner" to clean and then the "Aerospace Protector" to protect? Is that the right combination? Also, I see you can now order directly from 303. Is that the best place to buy it or do you find it at local auto parts stores or Wal-Mart? It sounds like good stuff so I think I'll give it a try.

You can't find 303 @ Walmart, at least not the 5 closest to me. I got mine at Bass Pro, or Cabellas. You can also order online from Autogeek.net. They have good service, and quick shipping. This is where I get all of my automotive detailing supplies from. I have also found that Meguiars marine products work very well too, just leave a slightly slimy feel to the vinyl seats for a day or so, so I switched to 303.

Are we working with leather or vinal, Rubber RV tires ? Looks like three different types of products. Anything that can block or cut the UV rays will help, Than nothing at all. :donno

Premature weather cracking is a real problem on RV tires even if stored inside or kept covered. Michelin recommends changing at about 8 years. My last set was 6 years old when I changed them out. They had less than 45,000 miles on them and the tread looked new. Six tires mounted and balanced = 2500.00. 303 is the only thing Michelin allows on their tires.
I tried it and didn't see any difference in tire life. By the way you can get it at almost all RV dealers also.
