I think he means the things that attach to the motor, that prevent the nose of a v bottom from touching the sky. I've been told they help a boat plane out faster. Are you talking about this?

I've been told they "CAN" help some, others say a waste of money. I think Herb has one on his, if I remember correctly. It helped with cavitation if I'm thinking straigt.

If you mean hydrofoil, I have one and it cured a problem with cavitation I had periodically with the PC.

Hey BMR. What exactly is Cavitation? I have a problem when I try to trim my engion up. Its like there too much air and not enough water.. I lose speed when I start to trim up past the half way mark. I was thingking of tring a hydrofoil. I have pics of it in action, but not sure how to post them

Motoring along, you'll have an increase in RPM with no forward motion. You'll hear the prop spinning...throttle back and accelerating usually make the prop get a grip. Adding a Doel Fin prevented it from happening on the PC in rough water.

Don't see a hydrofoil in your pic, the skeg is under water

Um, I may be wrong, but I don't think any engine would be able to trim half way up without cavitating. That is way up. When I trim mine out for speed, I actually only come up about 10deg.

I can trim up that far and throw water like a jet drive to get through shallow water with the prop guard
