Ok I'm new to pontoon boats. And already wanting to build but thats another thing.

I'm trying to get input Is there an advantage to using a lift instead of just leaving it in the slip?

Keeps stuff from growing on it, even leaving them in the water a few days you have ring around the toons, but then you just wipe it down when you pull it out.

Most of the guys who leave their's toons in the water, find a shallow spot and scrub them down to help keep them clean.

You don't have to get pontoons painted every year. If you live in tidal waters, it takes worry out of tying up boat. Better protection for storms. Keeps engine out of water, less corrosion.

Can't beat a lift. Convient to get into and out of the water especially if you get one with a canopy and motor. One of the best is mfg. by "Shorestation". Alum. and good workmanship.

We installed a Floatair lift in April.

I can get under the boat now to clean and/or adjust my Pontoon Water Glide.

Pretty much what Herb said. I had my old toon on my sisters lot, just tied to the dock, very little wave action there. My lot gets such wave action, I don't even feel comfortable with the huge fenders I have. So the type of wave action you have could be a big factor. I am near the mouth of the cove so the 60mph bass boat don't start slowing down until they are past my place.

As was said. If you can afford a lift, get it. No bottom painting, less hull maintenance, less cleaning and did I say no bottom painting ?? :rofl :rofl
