Trailer question

I bought a new pontoon last fall with a 2010 tandem trailer. My question is towards the wheel bearings. The unit only saw water once last season and so far 4 times this season. I was wondering if I had bearing buddies but I could not see anything due to a small rubber cover on each wheel. I removed one cover tonight and saw a nipple behind. There was sufficient grease around the nipple as well. The grease was a very good color. Looks new. Now I pushed around the nipple to see if it would slight move like my old bearing buddies. Hope I have not lost anyone . It did not move. Is it suppose to? If so then do I add more grease? I do not want to blow a seal? The trailer probably has 1500 kms on it now. Most from pulling from dealer which was approx 400 kms away. What's your thoughts? If you need more info let me know.

Everything you described sounds like mine and sound just fine.
What did you expect to 'move' in there.. i dont know of anything that moves in mine...
I pump the GOOP into there every season.
I also only put like 200 miles a year on my trailer, so its not moved much since i keep da toon in da slip!

Bearing Buddies are seal killers where yours is the best and what most are using today. When you grease them the new pushes old from rear to front. There is no pressure on the seals using this method.

If they are not like the old bearing buddies how do I know when I have pumped in enough grease? Should I put more in? What is the indicator that i have put enough. Like I said the grease in the front is very clean. Unit has only seen water 5 times. Thanks for the replies so far.

As said the old grease will come out around the sides. there should be a coil spring that gets compressed as you pump grease into the fitting also the face plate should come out (toward you) as the grease is going in. ran across some marine grease at walmart the other day for about 6 bucks. a little cheaper than advance auto an auto zone.

I got the same thing just pump till the new grease comes out, the great thing about these is it pushes out all the water and junk inside, so your packing without taking it apart.

Next question. How many times a year to I pump grease in these babies?

As long as the rubber plug stays on the grease will stay. When I tow a distance I usually check hubs when I stop. So far on 3 trailers with tis setup I have never had more than a luke warm hub. I check a couple times a year to be sure I have plenty of grease in hub. I use a waterproof lithium bearing grease.
