A little surprise when we got to the slip

Sometime during the night, some butthead hit my swimming ladder on my pontoon. knocked it about 16" sideways.
I was able to pull it back in place,(sort of) and we can use it, but it will need to be replaced or repaired. No pictures. I was too mad to think about that. :x Then the starter relay went out. had to keep starting it with a screwdriver. We took the neighbors out with their 2 boys, to swim and grill dinner on the boat. Good thing my son is a boat mechanic. I called him to see if he could fix the starter problem in the slip. He said no problem :thumbsup Anybody else find damage on their boat that no one admitted to?

That is always a problem when you have a group of people with boats around. Someone just got off course and hit your ladder and screwed it up. It is normal anymore to not care and just keep going if no one saw it happen. Could be drinking was involved, or youth, or just stupid but it happens.

Haven't had damage (not caused by me) on the pontoon... yet. Same thing with the open bow runabout I traded in. As we don't have a slip, it is always in and out of the water on the same trip.

Unfortunately, I did have a surprise when we got ready to leave one day with the runabout. Some :censored had apparently hit the trailer fender (galvanized trailer) so hard that it broke the tail light and wedged the back of the fender against the tire, keeping me from even backing out of the spot in the parking lot.

While my wife was idling around the launch waiting for me to show up with the trailer, I was digging through the truck looking for the right size wrenches/sockets so I could pull the fender off, all the while hoping that it hadn't caused enough damage to the tire to keep me from getting it home. After about 20-30 minutes, I had the fender off, beat somewhat back into shape on the asphalt with the back of a pipe wrench, the broken tail light swept away, and the now mangled fender back on. Would just have to take it home without a tail light on one side.

NOT a happy ending to an otherwise wonderful boating day.

yeah, if he'd have knocked the ladder off he'd have just put it in his own boat.
